Smakwater and Sprezzatura’s boarding facility is located in the heart of the beautiful Bitterroot Valley near Stevensville just 3 miles north of the Lee Metcalf National wildlife Refuge, and just 30 minutes from Missoula and Hamilton.

dog boarding facility

Our Kennel is professionally designed and built to provide sporting dog breeds with the largest individual commercial runs in Western Montana. Dimensions are 8ft wide by 12ft long, 10ft wide by 14ft long, and 6ft wide by 10ft long. All of our runs are sheltered by a common roof and they are secured inside a dual paneled wind wall which provides protection from the elements, yet allows adequate fresh air circulation. The kennel floors are concrete that is sloped into a sanitary drain system. Each run has a custom built therapeutic resting platform, and individual sleeping quarters. At the boarding facility, we have two large and one moderate sized airing yard that are secure where dogs can exercise and play. The building includes an integrated indoor training room, which has a professional trainer’s table, organized equipment placement, and allows access to kennel sleeping units.

Smakwater and Sprezzatura acquires exclusive access to over 400 acres of private properties in the Bitterroot Valley and Mission Valley which provide us with a wide range of training opportunities that include variances, and cover change on land, and with water.

We transport sporting dogs with a custom built dog truck designed for safety and comfort. We have a 6ft wide by 12ft long enclosed trailer that is stocked with training supplies and equipment and provides us with resources and support for any activity related to sporting dogs.

To provide our clients with a quality service, we have limited the size of our facility and the number of dogs appropriately.
